Chris:

Welcome to this listener feedback and response edition

2

:

of the Silver Screen Happy Hour.

3

:

I'm Chris Wiegand, along

with my brother Jerome.

4

:

I got a message from a woman

that I know from Clubhouse.

5

:

Her name's Ashley Feller.

6

:

Ashley is out of Florida.

7

:

And I just wanted to play

this message for you.

8

:

Because it was quite cool

to get a kind of a surprise.

9

:

Let me play this.

10

:

Ashley: Hey y'all.

11

:

I just wanted to tell you how much

I enjoyed your most recent episode.

12

:

That covers mainly Midsummer, but

some of Silence of the Lambs as well.

13

:

Midsummer and Silence of the Lambs are

both two of my favorite films ever.

14

:

And I could watch them over and over

and I have very few films do I do

15

:

that, but those two I have and I

think that y'all did a fantastic job

16

:

covering it and bringing up things

that I've watched those movies multiple

17

:

times and I completely missed some

of the parts that y'all brought up.

18

:

So that is so cool.

19

:

Was wondering if y'all had

by chance seen Hereditary.

20

:

That's another film by Ari Aster.

21

:

that even though they're not related,

you can kind of, they touch on

22

:

similar themes and that's, that's

another great film, but also equally,

23

:

if not as disturbing as midsummer.

24

:

In fact, I think I'm more afraid

of Hereditary than Midsummer.

25

:

Um, anyway, I just

26

:

Chris: She got cut off

there, but wasn't that cool?

27

:

So, I wanted to respond to Ashley,

um, so, and I think, didn't we

28

:

cover a little bit, you mentioned

Hereditary while we were recording,

29

:

but that might have been in, um, the

Silence of the Lambs part, part two?

30

:

Jerome: Probably.

31

:

Uh, first, Ashley, uh, thank

you for the message, and...

32

:

Chris: pull your mic over.

33

:

Jerome: Oh, sorry.

34

:

Is this better?

35

:

Chris: Yep.

36

:

Jerome: Ashley, thank you for the

message, and, um, just so you know...

37

:

There is a sequel coming.

38

:

The Silence of the Lambs will

have its own hour plus episode

39

:

that we drop Halloween night.

40

:

So, we only kind of mention Silence of

the Lambs in the first show because it

41

:

has its own whole segment coming up.

42

:

So, we're excited for that

and I hope you are too.

43

:

So, Hereditary.

44

:

Uh, I've gone back and

forth on Hereditary.

45

:

Um...

46

:

She is correct in the aspect

that it is more disturbing.

47

:

Chris: Yeah, and this is one, I think

I told you, I have not seen it yet.

48

:

Jerome: Right, and not to ruin anything

for you specifically as well, I remember

49

:

telling you that it has one of the most

horrific, I'll just say, death scenes.

50

:

Um, involving a light post, and

those that have seen it know

51

:

exactly what I'm talking about.

52

:

I'm not going to say anything else.

53

:

If you haven't seen it, you have to watch.

54

:

It's almost worth watching for

that scene alone, because I

55

:

didn't see that coming at all.

56

:

That was like, it's like, you know,

when you're watching a movie, you

57

:

kind of get a sense on where it's

going, and when that scene happens...

58

:

And it's not like the ending or anything,

it happens in the middle of the movie,

59

:

you're like what the fuck, like everything

just, at, at that point all fucking

60

:

cards are off the table, you have no

idea what's going on at that point.

61

:

So, um, we could probably pick it

apart on one of these shows, but

62

:

I had some problems with, script.

63

:

I, I really did with as far as like,

uh, where it just tries to 180 you at

64

:

the end and you have to then go back.

65

:

Uh, Hereditary is definitely

one of those movies you gotta

66

:

watch like two or three times.

67

:

Because uh, if you watch it

just the one time, you're gonna

68

:

walk away going, what the hell?

69

:

That doesn't make any sense.

70

:

But if you go back and watch it a second

time or a third time, you're like, oh,

71

:

I kind of see where, okay, yeah, got it.

72

:

But it's, um.

73

:

It's, it's, to me it's not anywhere

near as good as Midsommar, that's just,

74

:

Midsommar's, I think, uh, like I said

on our podcast, it was my favorite movie

75

:

of 2019, and it's definitely creeping

its way onto my top ten, but that,

76

:

you have to understand, my top ten.

77

:

It's a prestigious line of work, so

to crack my top ten, I mean, you're

78

:

talking about dealing with shit like

The Godfather and Goodfellas, so.

79

:

Chris: I was gonna say, it's

almost like in the Catholic Church.

80

:

You can't just canonize someone a saint.

81

:

It has to stand the test of time.

82

:

We have to see miracles, you know.

83

:

Jerome: Don't they have to be, like,

tortured and burned alive, too?

84

:

Chris: Well, it doesn't hurt.

85

:

Well, it does hurt, but...

86

:

It doesn't hurt their

chances of becoming a saint.

87

:

Jerome: It doesn't hurt.

88

:

Ask the guys at the end of

Midsommar if it hurts or not.

89

:

Chris: So anyways, I just wanted to

play that, say thank you Ashley for

90

:

listening and for your comments.

91

:

We really appreciate them.

92

:

And if you would like to send us, uh, some

feedback on one of our shows, or if you

93

:

completely disagree with us on something,

um, let us know and, uh, we'll get you

94

:

on our next podcast and, uh, Let you have

your, your say Again, thank you, Ashley.

95

:

We really appreciate it.

96

:

Ashley is the podcast host of

the Sunshine State Showcase.

97

:

They have a great show and they celebrate,

support, and amplify the vibrant

98

:

arts and culture scene of Florida.

99

:

Yes, I just read that off her page,

but it is awesome, and I actually

100

:

sent her, uh, a friend of mine

uh, to have, have her look up.

101

:

Someone I know, uh, who's a musician

down there, so I'm hoping to see him

102

:

on a future uh, episode of her podcast.

103

:

But check it out, especially if you're

planning a vacation in Florida, or if

104

:

you live in Florida, listen to her show

and you'll have new doors open to you.
